Boma Napkins Set of 4 | Cardamom | Handwoven Cotton | Southern Africa | Mungo
Boma Napkins — Set of 4 | Cardamom | Mungo | Southern Africa
A set of four handwoven cotton napkins in the Cardamom colorway — the napkin body woven in a dense diamond/chevron pattern in dark navy and grey cotton, a multicolor stripe of rose, terracotta, and warm beige running down the center of each napkin. The two elements — the dark geometric body and the warm multicolor stripe — work together as a single composition, the stripe adding warmth and color to what would otherwise be a purely graphic textile.
Each napkin is 55 × 55 cm — a generous square that folds into a substantial napkin for a formal table setting or drapes loosely for a relaxed one. The cotton is woven at a density that gives the napkin body and weight — it holds a fold, drapes well, and softens further with each wash.
Mungo — Woven in Southern Africa
Mungo is a South African textile mill and design brand founded in 1998 in Plettenberg Bay, on the Garden Route of the Western Cape. Mungo weaves all of its textiles on its own looms in South Africa, using 100% cotton grown in Southern Africa. The mill combines traditional weaving techniques with contemporary design — the Boma collection is one of Mungo's signature ranges, named after the traditional African boma — an enclosure or gathering place where meals are shared around a fire under an open sky.
Mungo is a Fair Trade certified producer. Every napkin in this set is woven by hand by Mungo artisans in South Africa, from cotton grown within the same region.
How It Improves Your Daily Life
The Boma napkins bring texture, color, and a considered quality to any table setting — the diamond weave pattern adding visual depth that a plain napkin does not have, the multicolor stripe adding warmth that a purely monochrome textile does not have. The dark navy and grey body works with white ceramics, natural wood, linen, and any neutral table palette. The rose and terracotta stripe adds a warm accent that lifts the setting without dominating it.
The 55 × 55 cm size is generous enough for a formal dinner and relaxed enough for an everyday table. The 100% cotton construction means the napkins machine wash and tumble dry without losing their shape or their color — they are practical as well as beautiful.
How to Style Them
- Formal dinner — folded precisely on a white ceramic plate, the diamond weave and multicolor stripe visible
- Everyday table — loosely draped beside a plate for a relaxed, textured table setting
- Outdoor dining — the dark navy and grey body works on any outdoor table surface
- Gift — a complete set of 4; a considered housewarming, wedding, or hosting gift
- Pairs with: white and cream ceramics, natural wood, linen placemats, and any warm neutral table setting
