Terracotta Bread Warmer & Seagrass Basket with Tea Towel — Mandala Flower | KORISSA

A terracotta bread warmer stone engraved with a hand-carved mandala flower rosette, set into a handwoven seagrass and jute oval basket with braided rope handles, paired with a hand screen-printed cotton tea towel featuring the same mandala flower motif. The tea towel is included as a functional companion to the bread warmer — not a decorative extra. Available in two tea towel colorways: Light Brown print on natural white cotton, or Dark Brown print on natural white cotton. Bread Warmer: 0.5” tall × 10.75” wide × 6.25” deep. Basket: 3.25” tall × 12” wide × 7.5” deep. Tea Towel: 19.5” wide × 25.5” deep. Designed and curated by KORISSA, handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh.

The Mandala Flower — Symbol of Wholeness, Harmony & the Sacred in the Everyday

The mandala — from the Sanskrit word for “circle” — is one of the most ancient and universal symbols in human culture. Found in Hindu and Buddhist tradition, in Islamic geometric art, in Celtic knotwork, and in the folk pottery of Anatolia and the Balkans, the mandala represents wholeness: the idea that all things radiate from a center, and that beauty emerges from symmetry and balance. In the home, a mandala motif carries specific meaning: harmony within the household, abundance and welcome, and the generosity of nature expressed through the radiating petals of the rosette.

How It Improves Your Daily Life

Bread goes cold quickly at the table — at home, at a restaurant, at a café. The terracotta stone solves this without electricity or batteries: heat it in the oven at 350°F for 5–10 minutes (or microwave on high for 2–4 minutes), place it in the basket, lay the tea towel over it, and set the bread on top. The stone retains heat for up to 40 minutes. The tea towel serves a double purpose: it protects the bread from direct contact with the hot stone, and it keeps the warmth in longer by acting as an insulating cover. Between uses, the towel works as a standard kitchen or bar towel — drying dishes, wiping surfaces, lining a bread basket. The mandala flower print means it looks as good on the counter as it does on the table.

This combination — warmer, basket, and towel — is designed for daily use in the home or in a hospitality setting. The three pieces work together as a system. Arriving gift-ready in a kraft box is a convenience, not the point.

Why Terracotta, Seagrass & Cotton?

Terracotta is dense, porous, and naturally insulating — it heats evenly and releases heat gradually. No synthetic coatings, no chemical treatments. The seagrass and jute basket is harvested from sustainably grown coastal plants, handwoven without synthetic reinforcement, and fully biodegradable. The tea towel is 100% natural cotton, hand screen-printed with non-harmful dyes — machine washable and designed to get better with use.

Fair Trade Artisan-Made

Designed and curated by KORISSA, handwoven, hand-engraved, and hand screen-printed by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh. Fair wages, safe working conditions, community investment. Slight variations in depth, texture, print, and proportion are inherent to the handmade process. No two sets are identical.

How to Use It

  1. Preparation — before first use, rinse the terracotta stone with water and dry thoroughly
  2. Heat the stone — oven: 350°F for 5–10 minutes | microwave: high for 2–4 minutes
  3. Place in basket — use oven mitts or tongs; place stone in the seagrass basket
  4. Cover with tea towel — lay the tea towel over the stone to insulate and protect; place bread on top
  5. Keep warm — fold the towel over the bread; retains heat for up to 40 minutes
  6. Clean — stone: wipe with damp cloth, dry well, hand wash only. Basket: dust or vacuum, wipe with damp cloth, dry thoroughly, keep out of direct sunlight. Tea Towel: machine wash cold, gentle cycle, hang to dry, no bleach.
