Why This Basket, Not Another

Most natural fiber baskets are tall and cylindrical — designed for vertical storage. The Savar is deliberately low and wide, which makes it suited to a different set of uses: a bathroom counter, a kitchen surface, a coffee table, a bedside tray. The oval form fits naturally on rectangular surfaces without wasted space. The white jute rim gives it a clean, finished edge that reads as considered rather than purely functional. Three sizes in one set means a cohesive look across different surfaces in the same room — or across different rooms entirely.

Why Seagrass?

Seagrass is harvested from coastal wetlands and is one of the most rapidly renewable natural materials available — no pesticides, no irrigation, fully biodegradable. The woven seagrass body has a denser, more structured texture than jute, giving the basket a rigidity that holds its shape on flat surfaces without any synthetic reinforcement. The natural variation in color — from warm tan to deeper brown — is inherent to the material and gives each basket its own character.
