Zera Woven Sisal Bowl — 3 Sizes | 3 Colorways | Azizi Life | Rwanda
A handwoven sisal bowl woven from natural sisal fibers over forest grasses — the bowl body a wide, shallow, flat-bottomed round form, the surface woven in a continuous spiral from the center outward in alternating bands of color. The spiral weave is tight and even, the individual sisal strands bound over a core of dried forest grass — the grass core giving the bowl a slight raised texture and a natural, organic depth that a flat weave does not have.
Available in three sizes and three colorways:
Sizes:
- Small — 7" diameter — a compact accent piece for a desk, shelf, or bedside table; weaving time 1–2 days
- Medium — 12" diameter — a generous centerpiece bowl for a dining or coffee table; weaving time 2–3 days
- Large Tray — 16" diameter — a statement wall piece or large serving tray; weaving time 5–7 days per piece
Colorways:
- White & Tea — alternating bands of undyed cream white and warm tea-dyed natural sisal; the two-tone spiral creating a clean, warm pattern that works with any interior palette
- Indigo & Tea — alternating bands of deep cobalt indigo and warm tea-dyed natural sisal; the bold indigo arc sweeping across the spiral from center to rim as a dramatic color accent
- Blush, White & Tea — three-tone spiral in soft blush pink, undyed cream white, and warm tea-dyed natural sisal; the three colors creating a layered, warm palette (Medium size only)
Azizi Life — Women Artisans in Rwanda
Azizi Life is a social enterprise dedicated to creating sustainable livelihoods for artisan communities in rural Rwanda. Every Zera bowl is handwoven by women artisans in Rwanda — the weaving skill passed down through generations, the income from each bowl supporting artisan families and their communities directly. The Large Tray represents 5 to 7 days of skilled handwork by a single artisan. Azizi Life is Fair Trade certified.
How It Improves Your Daily Life
The Zera bowl works as both a decorative bowl and a wall art piece. As a bowl, it organizes small objects on any surface — keys, jewelry, small candles, or decorative objects. As wall art, the loop on the back allows the bowl to be hung directly on a wall — the spiral pattern and the circular form making it a striking, textured wall object.
As shown in the lifestyle image, three sizes hung together on a white wall — Large at center, Medium and Small flanking — create a cohesive, gallery-style wall arrangement. The natural sisal and forest grass texture adds warmth and depth to any wall.
How to Style It
- Wall art — hung using the loop on the back; mix sizes for a gallery wall arrangement
- Coffee table — Medium as a centerpiece bowl for small objects or dried botanicals
- Desk or shelf — Small as a decorative accent or jewelry holder
- Entryway — Large Tray on the wall as a statement botanical focal point
- Gift — a Fair Trade, zero-waste gift; available in 3 sizes and 3 colorways
- Pairs with: natural wood, linen, terracotta, white walls, and any warm earthy or Scandinavian interior
