The pattern is woven in naturally white sisal fibers dyed with Rwandan tea leaves — the warm, earthy natural tone of the tea-dyed sisal contrasting with the undyed cream fibers to create the diamond/chevron pattern. The tea dyeing process produces a warm, muted tone that is characteristic of traditional Rwandan basketry — not a synthetic dye, but the natural color of tea absorbed into the sisal fiber.
