Hemp — One of the Oldest and Most Useful Plants on Earth

Hemp has been cultivated for fiber for over ten thousand years — longer than cotton, longer than linen, longer than almost any other textile plant. It grows quickly, requires no pesticides, needs little water, and returns nutrients to the soil. Its fiber is one of the strongest natural fibers available: more durable than cotton, naturally resistant to mold and bacteria, and biodegradable at end of life.

Hemp fiber has a characteristic texture — slightly coarser than cotton, with a natural roughness that softens with use and washing. This roughness is not a flaw; it is the property that makes hemp ideal for a washcloth. The open mesh weave amplifies this: the diagonal interlacing creates a surface that exfoliates gently, stimulates circulation, and removes dead skin cells without the need for synthetic scrubbing pads or chemical exfoliants.
