Agora Seagrass Coaster Trivet | Set of 4 | KORISSA
Agora Seagrass Coaster Trivet — Set of 4 | KORISSA
A set of four round coaster trivets handwoven from seagrass and jute in a two-tone spiral pattern — alternating strands of natural light seagrass and darker jute creating a concentric ring effect from center to edge. Diameter: 6” (15cm). Thick enough to protect surfaces from hot cups, teapots, and small pots; compact enough to use as drink coasters. Designed and curated by KORISSA, handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh.
Two Tools in One — Coaster & Trivet
Most coasters are too thin to handle heat from a teapot or a small pot. Most trivets are too large to use as drink coasters. The Agora sits between the two: at 6” round and woven from dense seagrass and jute, it handles the heat of a mug, a teapot, a French press, or a small cast iron pan — and it looks right under all of them. The spiral weave creates a naturally cushioned surface that grips without slipping and insulates without conducting heat.
A set of four covers a full table — one under each drink, or two under a teapot and two under mugs. They stack cleanly when not in use and take up almost no space.
How It Improves Your Daily Life
A good coaster trivet is one of those objects that disappears into daily life — you stop noticing it because it simply works. The seagrass and jute weave is naturally heat-resistant and non-slip: no cork backing required, no rubber feet, no synthetic coating. The two-tone spiral pattern means it looks intentional on any surface — a wooden dining table, a marble kitchen counter, a linen tablecloth, a tray. It works in the kitchen, at the dining table, on a coffee table, or on a desk.
Why Seagrass & Jute?
Seagrass is harvested from coastal wetlands — a fast-growing, naturally renewable plant that requires no pesticides or irrigation. Jute is one of the most widely grown natural fibers in the world, cultivated in Bangladesh and India for thousands of years. Both fibers are naturally heat-resistant, biodegradable, and fully compostable at end of life. The two-tone weave is not dyed — the color difference comes from the natural variation between seagrass (lighter, smoother) and jute (darker, slightly rougher). No synthetic dyes, no chemical treatments.
Fair Trade Artisan-Made
Designed and curated by KORISSA, handwoven by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh. Fair wages, safe working conditions, community investment. The spiral weave is worked by hand from the center outward — slight variations in diameter, weave density, and the distribution of light and dark strands are inherent to the handweaving process. No two coasters are identical.
