Jhuri Double Hanging Basket | Bamboo & Macramé | Two-Tier | KORISSA
Jhuri Double Hanging Basket — Bamboo & Macramé | Two-Tier | KORISSA
A handmade two-tier hanging basket combining bamboo rings and a knotted macramé cotton net — two open baskets suspended one above the other from a single twisted cotton cord with a loop at the top for hanging. The upper basket is smaller, the lower basket larger; both are formed by the same macramé net stretched between bamboo rings above and below. The net is open-weave — contents are visible from all sides. Designed and curated by KORISSA, handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh.
Two Tiers — One Hanging Point
The double hanging basket solves a specific problem: how to store and display more in a space that has no surface area to spare. A single hanging basket gives you one level. The Jhuri gives you two — stacked vertically, suspended from a single ceiling hook, occupying a footprint of air rather than counter or floor space.
The two tiers create a natural hierarchy of use: the upper basket for things you reach for less often, the lower for things you want at hand. Or use both for the same category — fruit in both tiers, organized by ripeness or type. The open macramé net means you can see everything in both baskets at a glance, without lifting or moving anything.
How It Improves Your Daily Life
In the kitchen, the Jhuri replaces a fruit bowl and a bread basket with a single hanging object that takes up no counter space at all. Fruit in the lower tier, onions and garlic in the upper — or avocados ripening in the lower, lemons and limes in the upper. The open net allows air to circulate around the contents, which keeps fruit and vegetables fresher for longer than a closed bowl.
Outside the kitchen, use it in a bathroom for rolled towels and toiletries, in a bedroom for scarves and accessories, or on a covered porch for plants. The bamboo rings give it a warm, natural presence that works in any room.
Why Bamboo & Macramé Cotton?
Bamboo is one of the fastest-growing plants on earth — it reaches full height in a single growing season and requires no replanting after harvest. The rings used here are natural bamboo, unfinished, with the warm golden color of the cane itself. The macramé cord is natural cotton — strong, flexible, and biodegradable. The knotted net structure is self-supporting: the tension of the knots holds the basket shape without any rigid base or frame. Every material in this basket is plant fiber, start to finish.
Fair Trade Artisan-Made
Designed and curated by KORISSA, handmade by Fair Trade artisans in Bangladesh. Fair wages, safe working conditions, community investment. The macramé knotting and bamboo ring assembly are worked entirely by hand — slight variations in net tension, knot spacing, and overall height are inherent to the process. No two baskets are identical.
